Armed Thugs Storm Polling Unit In Lagos, Destroy Ballot Boxes

In a bizarre twist of events, the voting exercise in the Amukoko community of Ajeromi Ifelodun local government area of Lagos State, was marred by violence which resulted in the destruction of ballot boxes and papers by thugs.

According to eye witnesses, the political thugs who stormed the polling unit on bikes (Okada) and tricycles (Keke Marwa), chased away electorates who were waiting to cast their votes during the presidential and National Assembly elections, the thugs were said to be armed with sticks, metal bars and other dangerous looking weapons.

In the ensuing pandemonium that broke out at the polling unit, the thugs went about destroying ballot boxes and other election materials.

The unarmed policemen on site could do nothing since they were overwhelmed by numbers.
