The final list of names of candidates to participate in the 2019 General Elections has been released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The list which contains the names of candidates for the presidential, senatorial, House of Reps and state Assemblies features 144 presidential candidates and their running mates.
The Social Democratic Party remains the only party that did not present a presidential candidate or running mate for the election, this is not unconnected with the intrigues that is going on in the party, recall that the former Minister of Information, Jerry Gana; has been recognized by the court as the presidential candidate while the party rejected him while on the other hand, former Cross River State Governor, Mr. Donald Duke, has been ousted by the court which does not recognize his candidature, but he has the blessing of the party, so for this reason, both candidates are laying claim to the ticket.
28 women made the list as either the candidate or the running mate. The youngest candidate is the 30-year-old Johnson Omede, being a vice-presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party.
A total of 72 Presidential candidates and another 72 Vice-Presidential candidates are expected to run for the president election.
