In the early hours of Monday, there was reported to be tension at a Senatorial result collation centre in Orlu, this tension was as a result of the announcement made by the returning officer, the electorates were said to have been angered by the outcome as indicated by the returning officer’s announcement, they were reported to have accused the INEC returning officer of releasing a result that was at variance with their perceived performance.
According to eyewitnesses, it took officers of the Nigerian Police Force launching teargas canisters at the crowd to disperse disparaged mob. Thereafter, unknown individuals took the law into their hands and set the Independent and National Electoral Commission’s office in Imo state ablaze.

An official of the Commission, Emmanuella Opara told reporters that
“Our office at Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state was razed down by fire by unknown persons in the early hours of today,”
Emmanuella however stressed on Monday that the tight schedule of the commission due to the ongoing election process has made it impossible for senior members of the commission to visit the office to ascertain the level of damage.
