The general belief among Nigerians is that the times are extremely hard, however, this perception is debatable because while those that hold this view would readily proclaim that Nigerians are dying of hunger, the Nigerian traffic conditions in major cities have only gotten worse despite the high cost of fuel and vehicle maintenance, the awful truth is that people are buying more cars and building bigger and better houses, thus making the claim of Nigerians dying of hunger unsubstantiated.

The reality on ground is that Nigeria is indeed going through very rough times, the level of unemployment has never been this colossal in the chequered history of the country called Nigeria, and the sad truth is that there seem to be no hope in sight because even now, the industrial sector is still plummeting in its dangerous plunge into irrelevance, the result is that the crime level is at an all time high, with armed robberies and kidnappings a regular feature in daily News reports, this has also affected the morality of the general public thus giving rise to a public that encourages perpetrators of advanced fees fraudsters otherwise known as 419, the security forces are not left out in this doldrums inflicted state of criminality, not with the regular reports of police killings over refusal to pay poultry sums.

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has lent his voice to the economic downtime which seems to have overwhelmed the Buhari administration, the Aare Onakakanfo made this known in a message he sent on Thursday to President Muhammadu Buhari through the President’s spokesman, Femi Adesina.

He sent the message through the President’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, during an event in Lagos. He asked him to go tell Buhari that Nigeria “is bleeding” and that he must urgently address some critical issues affecting many Nigerians.

Earlier, Adesina had paid glowing tribute to the Buhari administration enumerating on the gains that the administration had made, however, the Aare Onakakanfo while responding disagreed with Adesina, according to the Aare, contrary to his Area’s glowing tributes, all indications pointed to the fact that majority of Nigerians are suffering, with little or no hope.

The Yoruba generalissimo who was present at the 2nd annual Public Lecture of Freedom Online that was held in Ikeja, Lagos told Buhari’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, that he should tell his boss that Nigeria is bleeding and he further advised that Buhari should urgently address some of the pending critical issues that have contributed to the hardship facing the country under his administration.

“My brother, Mr. Femi Adesina has raised some issues on the state of the nation, he is doing his job. However, I want you to tell the President that Nigeria is bleeding. From my experience so far, I think President Buhari needs to attend to some critical issues that need urgent attention. Let me use my personal experience to buttress my point. I spend over N13, 000 daily on diesel to fuel my generating set.

“And that is the situation across the country. That shows the power sector is not working. Another area that the president needs to work on is the agricultural sector. The facts and figures show that we still have a long way to go if Nigeria is to be ranked among the most vibrant countries in the world. From all indices, it is no doubt that our economy needs total overhauling. Though, we have exited recession as claimed by Mr. Adesina, efforts should also be made to revamp the economy.”
